Thanks Kathleen!
We think those photos of Vaako are pretty special. They kind of tell the story of who this dog is.

The last few days has been a lot of fun watching the puppies and their parents play in the snow:)

The one with Vaako running with his daughter Reni, is so adorable! He is just the best dad!! He loves his girls and spends tons of time just playing and hanging out with them. Not many males are as good with the puppies as he is...we are so happy to have this guy.

There are over 800 photos from the snow days to go through. We have some really lovely ones of Emma and her kids too. We will get some up over the next few days.

When I see him now, I still see this young man ...

Those here who breed will profoundly understand the commitment a breeder makes, to each and every puppy they produce. When a litter is advertised, the breeder is inevitably approached by people wanting to “be on the list” for a puppy, and they will often ask for the set of questions or criteria that they can respond to, to essentially convince the breeder that they are a good home for a puppy. It’s an odd dance between the breeder and the potential owner, one of the few times in life when there are no do-overs. Deciding on a home for a puppy will have a profound impact on the puppy’s life, the breeder simply has to “get it right.” You have to come to know your individual puppy, and then wait to find a home that is a match for who he/she is. Sometimes people approach you who are wonderful people and wonderful homes, but simply a wrong match for the individual puppy, so you end up turning then away because in your heart you know that they are not right for the individual dog.

From the moment he first drew breath, Vaako was a strong independent life force, will all forward gears… a stallion of a dog - truly, a stallion of a dog. Vaako’s puppy photos attracted a lot of attention and interest from wonderful homes, that Arthur and I had to turn away… because they simply did not match with who Vaako was. When I think back to the puppy in the photo… and even a bit further back, to Vaako in the whelping box… and the dreams we had for him… and fast forward to these photos of him now, this magnificent mature Doberman male powering through the snow with his daughter … I have a tremendous sense of awe and pride. In every possible respect, Cheryl and Bob were the right fit with Vaako… they have fulfilled all of our dreams for Vaako and then some… and we are incredibly grateful to have them in our lives. As his breeders, Arthur and I presented them with a puppy who had potential… Bob and Cheryl gave Vaako wings to soar. It simply does not get better than that.

Those are powerful action shots, worthy of display. What a guy!

My breeding newbie self loves the dark on his inner thighs.

My 10+yrs dober-owner self wonders about the snow on his lips and jowls: does he bite at it?

Magnificent display of athleticism!

Yep...he likes to catch snowballs or bury his muzzle in the deep parts. It is fun to watch.
Vaako is every bit a male Doberman. Strong, confident, athletic and has stamped his kids with it.

Vaako has always been quite the hunk - ever since I saw his first his puppy photos. His face is compelling.

Thank you to everyone for all the lovely words about Vaako.

When I see him move across the yard or a ring, he gives me goose bumps.
He is a joy to watch move, sound and clean, to the standard in height and length, that head and expression are to die for.
We feel very fortunate to have him in our lives.

He is what he should be, all male Doberman. Willing to throw down for his family and home if he needs to, but on the other hand, sweet, kind and gentle with us, Emma, his babies and whomever we say are friends. His puppies have his solid temperment, beautiful face and amazing movement....along with a few other nice details! :)

We have photos of Vaako completely covered by 9 crazy little black puppies. :)
He would lay on the sofa and let them mob him. He never was cross with them and loved his play time with them. Not many males can be trusted like that.
It is fun to watch him with his girls. They follow him him around like a couple of ducklings. It is adorable!!

Thank's again everyone!
