I saw this morning that the DPCA board of directors voted (nearly unanimously) to eliminate the DPCA business list, DPCA_ON_LINE. While I find it disappointing that we have lost what could have been a valuable communication tool between club members, including the board, I can hardly blame the board for this decision. List posts were regularly showing up on Cyberdobes (Cheri Mcnealy apparently takes a lot of pleasure out of flouting the confidentiality rules) and the list itself was being regularly used to bait board members and to insult club members rather than discuss club business in a professional and constructive manner.

What do the rest of you think?

It is a shame.
It is also a shame they don't snap a leash on those who misused it and end the crap.

It could have and should have been a valuable tool.

You have got to be kidding!!!

The membership needs that list to ask questions, exchange information and co-ordinate all sorts of events. The internet is here to stay, the Board can not simply turn back the clock to a time when there was no instantaneous exchange of information simply because people like Cheri McNealy and her co-horts were allowed to run amok for years by morons like Sam Burke.

McNealy and many of her groupies do not own, show and /or breed dogs. As a result they don’t grasp the relevance of the list. They don’t grasp any of the relevant issues facing breeders and owners in 2010. This decision by the Board is about as stupid as anything they’ve ever done. A much better option would have been to set higher standards for the list and enforce them.

Instead they have allowed a few rotten apples like McNealy to spoil it for the entire membership.

Saw that earlier also and thought the same thing....Get rid of those that are trouble makers. It is the same with a lot of the lists. Including this one....Say something that someone doesn't care for and you get attacked at your home address. that is what some really good folks have had to put up with on the DPCA site, ShowDobes-L and yes even this one.... We all will miss good solid information that comes from the list, another way of learning about how things run and doberman issues.....SAD....... Certain people just can't behave and ruin it for the rest.

Re: dismantling the DPCA members only list, here’s how I see this:

The DPCA Members Only List is an irreplaceable means of disseminating information, asking and answering questions and discussing issues that are vital to our club and the breed. There is no frickin way in hell that the club will function well without the members list. The internet is here to stay, communication is vital to any group, most especially now; we need the list more than ever before, but the current Board have their heads buried so deep in the sand that they don't see this.

The problem with the list has everything to do with how it was moderated and who set the tone for it originally. Sam Burke set a tone for the list and allowed (possibly even encouraged) people like Cheri McNealy and her moron followers like Phil Green to use the list as a way to harass people and push agendas that suited them. Thank god Burke is gone, but his foul legacy lingers. Categorically, no moderator of the list should ever have allowed the moronic insipid Phil Green a.k.a. Da Kid kinds of posts. The man is demonstrably an idiot. His “claim” in the breed is that something like 40 years ago he bred a litter of utter pets… or some such nonsense, and he’s been inserting himself in issues he doesn't understand ever since. His posts should simply be deleted, along with all of McNealys diatribes. (At the very least Ole Cheri should have been held to a 400 word per hour posting limit, which would have given her time to put down the cheeseburgers and do a few toning exercises for her abs and upper thighs ;)).

There was never a need to terminate the list itself, rather, anyone with an ounce of good judgment would simply have shut down posters like Green and McNealy rather than pandering to them.

But there is a larger problem here. It is clear that some Board members do not want their conduct reviewed, and it is also clear that several Board members are strongly connected to McNealy (they love how McNeally has conducted herself over the years, it has benefited them). Though I do not read Cyberdobes, someone sent me a recent exchange between Nancy Christiansen and Phil Green (copied below). The fact that Ms. Christiansen seeks the solace of Cyberdobes, and specifically of Green, speaks volumes about her and about the influence the CD has had on the DPCA Board for far too long.

Phil Green's long history of utterly moronic posts, spewing ridiculous crap, have earned him his reputation as The Village Idiot. His claims about Eve or Athy are as well grounded in fact as his comments that my husband Arthur does not really exist. Arthur is a medical doctor and a Major on Active Duty in the USAF. Unlike Da Fool, Arthur not only exists, he contributes to the peace and safety that fools like Green enjoy and abuse. Someone should have unplugged Da Fool's key board years ago. Which brings me back to Christensen; a person of integrity and good judgment would not be seeking Phil Green's counsel; they would be repulsed and embarrassed by any association with him.

On May 4, 2010, at 3:11 PM, Nancy Christensen wrote and Phil (later) replies:

Phil, how long have you been around? Well, I was 72 or 73 (memory problems) on my last whelp-day, but if your reference is to DPCA, with short interruptions, perhaps since the early or mid (or, perhaps late) 1970s. Long enough, however, to know who you are, and send you a DPCA recipe book from another era. LOL

Long enough to know that for some odd reason, Eve can do whatever she wants to do and DPCA gives her a free pass. If we're talking about the same Eve who sued the DPCA for untold thousand of dollars over the right to hold a dog show, then yes, even after that, it is my understanding that she still has very powerful friends in DPCA. However, she and I have not yet crossed swords, even after I publicly said her husband, Roger, if elected club Treasurer, would be akin to a fox in the henhouse. Actually, I supported Robin because I felt she was far better qualified.

Face it, who else can do what she has done and still even be a *member* of the club, let alone hold positions and obviously have some sort of "power" over enough officers to keep that free pass going.

Athy?

And, trust me, Phil, speaking up about it will get you taken to the cleaners- as in my quest to become a WAE evaluator................... ..."to the cleaners?" I've been soiled by the best of them - Athy, Bruce Rogers, Elaine Greenwood and her husband Arthur (whom I suspect really doesn't exist), etc., and I'm really look forward to getting cleaned up bit... Phil Green write: <<I've been soiled by the best of them>>

To which I must respond: I think Phil Green simply soiled himself.

I agree, Elaine, Phil's posts are just nonsense. What in the world would cause Phil Green to suppose that Arthur is non-existent? Perhaps Arthur should give him a quick phone call to validate his existence :D
