Okay, folks, Illinois rescue needs our help. Yesterday they brought in a heartbreakingly emaciated Doberboy. It was snowing all day in Illinois yesterday when they found him. Their initial thought was to just end his pain, as he seemed so far gone. But "something" made the group and the vet want to try.

This dog was found as a stray by animal control in an alley and brought back to the shelter. He was so emaciated that he was near death. Upon arriving at the vet, they discovered how dismal his condition really was....the receiving rescuer said that in his 22 years of rescue experience that he has never seen a dog in such horrible condition. He is BEYOND emaciated....so bad that his eyes are completely sunken in his head and his eyeballs are not even visible. His body temperature was so low that it was not even registering. They immediately tried to start a warm IV with antibiotics and fluids....but there weren't even able to find a vein in his bony body and had to finally insert it into his neck. He was completely void of movement except for his shallow breathing.

Several hours later, his temperature was starting to register, which is a good sign....BUT this poor boy has endured such trauma to his body and organs, that there is still no way of knowing if he is going to be able to survive. He is currently receiving the best care possible and is surrounded by people that care....so if he is to pass, he will do so knowing that there were people that loved and cared for him and not alone in a cold alley.

Needless to say, his medical bills will be significant, if you are able to help, I know that IDR+ would be grateful. If you cannot afford to help financially, can you please say a prayer to whoever you pray to for him, send him some healing energy, as he really needs it.

I've been chatting with Amy and she says that right now, the vet is "guardedly optimistic". Miracle is eating a bit on his own, I don't think he can quite lift his head yet, he's still very weak. No animal should be made to suffer this way. Any help would be greatly appreciated, dollars and prayers.

Thanks all.
