DPCA National Survey

The Board is looking into possibly revamping our national specialty extravaganza. It is important that we get as much data as possible going forward with this. The National Show Team has put together a survey to gather this data, so SOUND OFF!!

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and tell us what you really think. The survey won't take you more than 10 minutes, but they are 10 very well invested minutes for the future of the DPCA National. Your opinions matter and your answers could be used to shape the future of the National.

The survey is open to members as well as non members, so feel free to share this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/dpcanational
Thank you!

Arthur and I completed the survey this morning. The quality of the judging panel is THE MOST important thing to us, but far.

The DPCA keeps recycling the same tired people, some of whom have judged just about every five years. Enough already!!! Good, bad or indifferent, we've had your opinion. Many of these judges NEVER get other assignments - and for good reason!!! They are not highly regarded by knowledgeable dog people. Or worse, fueled by chat forums, totally unqualified people (who have never bred a dog worth feeding), end up judging conformation at our Nationals. I even saw a name on the ballot of someone who had not completed their provisionals yet!!!:mad: The National should not be your first assignment; it should be after years of experience judging dogs. For Christ’s sake, have the good sense to politely decline the assignment when you know you should not accept it.

Knowledgeable people outside of the breed look at our National Judging Panels as something of an embarrassing joke. The Nationals are simply too expensive to have such mediocre judges. Many of us are not willing to pay thousands (in handling fees, hotel, travel and other expenses), to get the opinions of judges who haven't a clue, and /or have never bred a good dog and/or don’t really understand why some faults are relatively trivial and some are simply not to be tolerated.
