There are going to be a few changes here at DSNN…

Change Numero Uno: We are finally going to bring in someone who knows what the heck they’re doing with the technology vBulletin offers, so we can use all of the options and features we have here and do things like open up the membership. It is currently closed (unless you email me) because we do not know how to utilize the security features currently available to block certain kinds of annoying spam.

We have two people in mind, hopefully this will be set up later this week. Pathetic as this is to admit, the plain truth is that those of us in charge do not know how all the security features work, and we do not seem able to learn on our own. What can I say? I’m 54… I was raised with a rotary phone. Any ten year- old kid knows more about this technology than I will ever know. So, enough of trying to do this on our own, we're getting help.

Change Numero Dos: We are going to be discussing some possibly incendiary topics in the months ahead, some of which go to the very heart of what is wrong in dogs. One of the topics will be about co-ownerships, and what can happen when a co-owner goes off the deep end. Some of the posters here have some direct experience with a “situation” that has been well documented. The saga will be discussed in FULL. I think we will all benefit from the topic.

So, stay tuned, enjoy...

I can't wait for this discussion......I almost got into a situation this past December, luckily I "saw the handwriting on the wall", and walked away....losing a deposit, but I consider it well worth the lesson I learned, and what could have happened!!!

I am looking forward to this and will try to contribute as much as possible to these discussions. Especially since I was involved in a higly publicized co ownership dispute, highly publicized thanks to yours truly Cheri McNealy who made me out to look like this horrible monster of course only telling one side of the story. It's been a few years now and maybe everyone can learn a little something from this situation, I feel comfortable talking about it now and if it helps even one person then it will all be worth it.
I read things on some boards that make me cringe, there's a lot wrong in dogs and bringing it all to light and discussing it might help to come up with some possible solutions to some of these problems.

fwiw, one of the larger forums I hang out on (ih8mud, a Toyota Landcruiser site) still gets spammers a few times a day...

That's such a cool name....Admin.

It's an old family name... Grandpa Admin was a dear soul. :D

Andy, in your own way you're absolutely priceless. You must have been reading my mind. I was looking for this thread the other day… and here you’ve found it for me. :)

Some may remember that our first attempt at changing DSNN over from our current server to a server (from England) turned out to be less than successful. So, we ended up staying with our original server. But, we’re going to give it a go again here pretty soon. We’ve brought a “professional” on board to tweak a few things here. Nothing drastic; we’re just going to freshen things up a bit, change the look and the color scheme a bit. Our site has some capabilities we are not using because the current admin (moi) doesn’t know how, so we’ve brought on someone who does. Any suggestions are welcome. I - for one - want more smilely face icons... not a big thing, but we need more than :):(:mad::p;):D:o:rolleyes::cool::eek:

but no middle finger salute.

No one finger salute smileys?!!!

Come on Admin! Don't limit those of us that are tied deeply to sign language!!! I use that smiley everywhere else! The IRS, emails to my CEO, and I colour the pages of virtually anything 'doberman ringside human politics' with it! Can we at leat get the green vomit one?

Okay, you've won me over. If you can find the icon (any icon) ... we'll see if we can add it here. :)

I hope this discussion will include what happens when the breeder goes off the deep end and not just the problems with co-owners. Sometimes there are some ridiculous demands made on co-owners from people way out there that bred a litter. These come up after the fact and the co-owner is made out to be the villain since the breeder knows more dog people generally and seems to have no problem voicing it. Just want to be fair here.

You are spot on Lili. It is truly about a breeder who goes off the deep end. :)

Still waiting on our new wab-do super-deluxe web-techie to do this and that (all of which is so far over my head I couldn’t explain it if I tried). In the interim, we should have a thread called “Worst Co-Ownerships In History."

I've had a few experiences that would be fun to share. :D :(

I am not touching the co-ownerships. The last time I did that here I ended up hitting the delete button because I went too far!:o All I have to say on it is that 90% of the dogs that I co-own (from my breedings) have been good, on the most part my owners are grreat!:D Thank you to all my extended family!!
I can not go there, that is to the ones that went very bad, so far I have had only 2 that went south!:( One that I was the buyer and one that I was the breeder.

I understand completely. Seems to me that it’s a whole lot easier to speak of event that occurred over a decade ago… time may not heal all wounds, but it removes some of the sting and helps to put events in a context. Also, once removed from the heat of the moment, you have a chance to see how it all turned out. History is an interesting thing.. gives us the opportunity to see how everyone got from point A to point B.

Speaking of which, the grass here is growing like... well, like grass. If I don't get to mowing this morming, I won't be able to see either point A or point B. :D
