Last Saturday our neighbors had a party… a big birthday celebration... everyone had a grand time. Next morning this is what I noticed in our mare’s pasture… a ring of brightly colored doughnut shaped helium balloons.

My first thought was, “Great! The mares have never seen anything like this before. They’ll be amazed, threatened, spooked… whatever, but I’ll get some great photos.

So I ran to the house to grab the camera. Here are the mare's responses:

Lourdess was first over to check things out...

She was joined by True Ruler...

and then by Alex . (Alex is a freind's mare, who's come to spend time with our girls.) Alex wasn't all that interested either.

Eventually even Denali decided to wander over and see what the fuss was all about...

but it was really a Non-Event, and soon everyone was back to grazing.

Btw, this is an example of what we do to get the angle of the photo we want. I was laying on my back in the pasture. Lourdess came over to check out what the heck I was doing down there, I think she found by blue Croc more interesting than the balloons.
